Worship during Lent

Detail of Joseph and Jesus from "Pietò" by Tony Zinicola, Jr.

Lent, the forty days of preparation for Easter, is springtime for the soul.  As part of worship, “Pietò”, a mosaic by Tony Zinicola, Jr., is installed in the Piedmont sanctuary. “Pietò” depicts Joseph holding Jesus, an interpretation of the more traditional Pietà, in which Mary holds Jesus.  Download the artist’s reflections on the making of  “Pietò” (.pdf), and on its relationship to it’s current setting (.pdf). During Lent, the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated every Sunday in worship, to give strength for the journey.
